Razer Kishi Is The Near Perfect Controller For Your Phone

If your an avid gamer, mobile games can only get you so far. Luckily if you own an android device you have a slew of options to choose from. Most of these option come in the form of a Bluetooth controller. I have say, the options are staggering. Once in a while a new device shows up that calls your attention.

What Bluetooth Lag?!

The Razer Kishi‘s promises something a bit different . It connects directly to the USB Type C or Lightning connection on your phone. This eliminates that Bluetooth lag that’s commonly felt from most other conventional peripherals . It also promises to work out of the box with minimal tinkering on your part.

My weapons of choice were an LG V40 and a Pixel 3XL. Both fit snug on control pad and connected with ease. I’ve played it extensively, and I never really felt any significant lag. True to it’s word all emulator’s I played worked out of the box. I tried a Nintendo, Sega Master system, Snes, PCE , Game boy advance, PSP, and PlayStation emulators. I didn’t try the iPhone Razer Kishi so I can’t report if any of this is different. But I feel a company as big as Razer wouldn’t make promises it couldn’t deliver on . If your in to subscription based cloud gaming the Razer Kishi has you covered. It’s compatible with all major cloud gaming services, including  Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, Stadia, Amazon Luna, GeForce NOW, & Steam Link.

Great Built Quality

When you hold the Razer Kishi it feels sturdy, well built . All the buttons have a solid click to them . It also has all the buttons you’re used to with the new generation controllers, no compromises here. It feels really great in the hand, and never really felt like it could strain my hand on longer gaming sessions. Even when playing 3-4 hours straight… Yea , that’s how I roll.

I Did Say “Near’ Perfect

Now, the Razer Kishi does come with a few things I think could have been done a bit differently. Because it uses your phone’s battery as a power source, it drains the battery rather quickly. It does have a passthrough charging port to rectify this though. So you don’t have to disconnect the phone in the middle of gaming. Do not leave this connected to your phone, it will drain the battery even if it’s not in use. Even a small internal battery could have fixed these issues. It’s kind of weird but one of the things it has going for it, also ends up hurting it. It would be great if it had Bluetooth connectivity for more universal usage. It’s not universal, So make sure it will fit YOUR phone before purchasing.

I have to say this is the best control pad I’ve used in a long time. Even beating out the moto mod attachment control pad for some of the moto phones. which is now my second favorite control pad. Thanks for joining me as we took a look at one of my favorite control pads. Check back again . And as always , Stay Retro.
