The jailbreak called pOOBs4 can be found on Github. Allows all ps4s and ps4 pros to run homebrew. pOOBs4 is able to jailbreak/hack your ps4 firmware 9.00 which in turn allows homebrew software to be run. In laymen term, it allows you to run backup games, emulators , different operating systems, etc. Software like GoldHEN (for firmware 9.00) Credit for this early Christmas gift goes to PlayStation scene hackers and developers SpecterDev, ChendoChap, and Znullptr.
Don’t update to 9.03 just yet.
If you’re on firmware that’s older. Fret not, you can easily update to 9.00. I found a very nice how-to guide from wololo.net . It seems simple enough to jailbreak the ps4 at this point. I personally haven’t tried it yet. Check back soon and I’ll report back on how easy it is to perform this particular jailbreak. If you’re on 9.03 firmware or above then your stuck waiting a bit longer, as this particular hack will not work.
PS5 is also hacked?!
It’s also reported that the same exploit could work on PS5. Though it’s not ready, or being release anytime soon since the lead developer can’t get his hands on a PS5 yet. It’s easier to hack a PS5 than to get one, lol.
This is exciting news for the ps4 scene. Since it’s been rather difficult to hack the ps4 up to this point. It required a ps4 to be running on rather old firmware. Hopefully this lights up interest in the developer community. The ps4 and ps4 pro have some beefy specs. I’m curious to see how they handle homebrew.
